The Exotic SH cat is part of the Persian cat family that was developed to have the desirable traits and looks of a Persian but not the required daily maintenance to keep the cat’s coat looking amazing.
The major difference between the Persian and the Exotic SH cat is the hair on the exotic cat. The coat on an Exotic cat is short, dense, plush, and thick so that they have a rounded and soft “teddy bear” look that is easily maintained and does not mat or tangle.
Exotic SH cats are great pets that provides lots of love, affection, privacy, and play time for everyone in your home. Males do tend to be more affectionate than the females but since Exotics mature later than other breeds, spaying or neutering the cats at an early age works to eliminate those bad tendencies that adult cats tend to have with territorial marking, etc.

A cat show is composed of a number of separate, concurrently running, individual shows held in the various judging rings throughout a show hall. Each ring is presided over by a different judge, who presents his or her own awards independent of the decisions of other judges. Hence, a cat which is chosen Best in Show by the judge in Ring 1, may not always be given the same award by the judge in Ring 2. (https://cfa.org/all-about-cat-shows/)
There are several competitions going on all at the same time. For pedigreed cats, such as ours, there are three main classes that we participate in Kitten, Championship, and Premiership. In some shows, there is also Agility competitions and Household Pet competitions. Within the three main classes, the various breeds represented at the show all compete against their own breed, then similar breeds (i.e. long hair breeds and short hair breeds). All vying for that coveted spot in the finals where the best cats from every represented breed then compete for the "Best in Show".
Each show will have four or more rings with a different judge at each ring depending upon the duration of the show. In essence, each ring represents an individual show resulting in the animal earning multiple ribbons during the show. Each breed has a CFA dictated set of standards that each judge uses to compare the animals against and then, in their opinion, they select the animals that best represent their breed on that day.

While you are at the show, be sure to not only look for our benching area, but also take time to visit with the other exhibitors to learn more about the breeds they specialize in.
But remember to always ask the exhibitor if you can touch, pet, or take a picture of their animal. The primary reason the exhibitor is there is to compete in the show and with so many animals there, it's easy to pass diseases, make the cats nervous, or cause a grooming issue.
If you have questions about your cat, or the ribbons, or anything else about CFA or the cat club hosting the event, feel free to ask the exhibitors, the judges (in between ring judging), or as the show managers. We all want you to have the best experience possible at the show.
Our babies are adopted quickly, so reach out to reserve your furever friend or to ask any questions.
